Township Planning has commenced!

Mt Evelyn Township Improvement Committee Annual Township Planning Day

One of the elements of Morrisons Strategic plan is to facilitate the identified key issues, priorities and needs raised at the township planning day.

70 people responded to the invitation to participate in the event which was held on Thursday the 10^th February.

5 of Morrisons staff took an active part in the session which brought together community members, agencies, business, services and government.

The event was sponsored by The Mt Evelyn Community Bank.

The priorities identified as key issues were as follows:

· Transition towns

· Traffic flow around the township

· Housing for an aging community

·         Transport for disabled, elderly and isolated community,  members.

·         Community film group.

·         Arts expo.

·         Forging better links between community, business and schools.

·         Shop locally.

·         Farmers market

·         Community enterprises.

·         Skate park and activities for youth.

By working the community and community groups on these issues Morrisons can build community capacity, and bring its resources to the table to assist in making things happen in a co-operative way.

This event also provided Morrisons staff with an opportunity to network and connect with key community representatives and profile some of morrisons activities.
